Délire de lire

In a cultural context subdued to the obligatory translation of every sing into words, the uninterrupted exercise of reading makes it come to be perceived as a natural phenomenon, as if it were the last frontier of interpretation: Non plus Ultra. But meanings are not built outside the social frameworks of domination –gender, class, power relations…– regardless of the materiality of the sign itself, or without our implication, our credulity.

To defraud that automatism, hinder the predictability of the incessant flow of the supposed transparency of reading, is perhaps the most urgent and the most political of the responsibilities of artistic practice.
